Latin donors and sponsorship in Hospitaller Rhodes (1309-1522)

Abstract
For two centuries Rhodes was the headquarters of the military Order of the Hospital. The consequent expansion of the town and the arrival of Latins from various lands, created the conditions for extensive patronage. Its survivals are relatively scarce; but examined alongside the written sources they permit us to trace the identity of its protagonists, their various motives, the extent of their contribution and allow us a glimpse of the impression it made on at least some contemporaries.
