Le « dualisme » artistique dans la peinture murale du XVIE siècle en Grèce contribution à l'étude de l'ornement peint
Abstract
The article examines certain of the painted ornaments in the mural decorations of large sixteenth-century monastic complexes on Mt Athos, at Meteora and in Epirus. Ascertained is the different artistic conception governing the ornament, between the Cretan painters and the painters from Northwest Greece. The artistic choices are discussed in relation to the historical environment and the cultural conditions in the regions in which these painters were active.
