Abstract

A group of fourteenth- and fifteenth-century Islamic vases in the collection of the Byzantine and Christian Museum is discussed. These include one Iranian bowl of the Sultanabad type, produced in the workshop in Kashan (14th c.). Sherds in the collection bear witness to the spread of Iranian ceramics to Egypt and Syria. During the Mamluk period of the officials, ceramics with sgraffito and painted motifs of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries were produced in Egypt, samples of which are represented in the Museum’s collection.
