La basilique paléochrétienne de Thyrsos à Tégée et son inscription

Abstract
The Early Christian Basilica of Thyrsos in Tegea and its Inscription
The Early Christian basilica of Thyrsos in Tegea has long been the subject of archaeological and historical research for its architectural material evidence and its inscriptions. The reassement of the central nave’s inscription under the combined light of archaeological data and historical sources together offers another possible reading for the latter. In this regard, the inscription should be considered as a dedicatory one, a hypothesis, which changes the purpose of the erection of the basilica, to honour of the cult of saint Thyrsos in Tegea.
