Abstract

The use of emerging technologies in theatre is a dynamic and evolving approach to teaching and learning. This integration harnesses the expressive power of theatre and the transformative potential of digital media to create innovative and engaging educational experiences. However, students with disabilities often face barriers to full participation in theatre education activities due to challenges and other institutional-structural, social barriers, and biases. The purpose of this literature review was to highlight useful information on the perceived benefits, challenges, and implementation strategies related to the use of digital interactive media in theatre education for students with disabilities. Furthermore, it presents the potential impact of such approaches on the psychosocial development of students with disabilities. Therefore, the use of technology holds new possibilities and challenges. On the one hand, it enriches the learning experience, making it more immersive and engaging. On the other hand, however, more careful consideration is needed to ensure that technology does not overshadow key learning objectives and that it remains inclusive and accessible for all learners.
