Η πολυπλοκότητα των περιβαλλοντικών προβλημάτων και η αναγκαιότητα καλλιέργειας της συστημικής σκέψης στο πλαίσιο της Εκπαίδευσης για το Περιβάλλον και την Αειφορία
Abstract
Environmental problems are particularly complex, as they arise from the interaction of composite systems. Their effective approach, without the development of systemic thinking is impossible since the interactive relationships that cause them must be understood. The ideal systemic framework within which they can be studied is that of sustainability, which, as a systemic concept, constitutes a new form of long-term thinking, that is suitable for the holistic approach to the complex problems humanity is called upon to face. The role of Education for the Environment and Sustainability (EES) is considered decisive for the achievement of its goals. However, the current reality of the EES demonstrates that the approach to environmental issues remains, in most cases, one-dimensional and linear. Most school programs focus on the environmental dimensions of problems, and they usually do not make the necessary connections with economic and social ones, or when they do, they are general and unclear. EES in its pedagogical framework includes participatory teaching methods, which it is called upon to utilize, to cultivate systemic thinking and apply it in educational practice. In addition, it contributes to changing the way students think, and therefore how they act, for achieving the 17 interrelated goals of sustainable development.
