Περίληψη
Η μελέτη των νοημάτων που εκφράζονται μέσω της φωνής τα πρώτα δύο χρόνια της ζωής είναι απαραίτητη για μια εξήγηση της μετάβασης από την ηρολεκτική στη λεκτική επικοινωνία. Σε μια διαχρονική έρευνα δύο παιδιών σε ελληνόφωνο περιβάλλον από τους 8 έως τους 24 μήνες, αναλύουμε την επικοινωνιακή λειτουργία των εκφωνημάτων, δηλαδή το νόημα από τη σκοπιά των άλλων. Η συντριπτική πλειονότητα των εκφωνημάτων αποδείχτηκε ότι απευθύνεται στους άλλους από πολύ νωρίς και ότι εκφράζει συναίσθημα, προσταγή για να επιτευχθεί ένας σκοπός και δήλωση μιας σκέψης. Παρατηρείται ωστόσο σταδιακή μετάβαση από νοήματα που μπορούν να εκφραστούν με προ-λεκτικά μέσα σε εκείνα που απαιτούν συνήθως τη γλώσσα. Πάνω απ όλα, περιορίζεται εντυπωσιακά η έκφραση συναισθήματος και αυξάνεται αντιθέτως η δήλωση μιας σκέψης. Επιπλέον, εκδοχές της προσταγής και της δήλωσης που αφορούν ένα απτό αντικείμενο εμφανίζονται νωρίτερα από εκείνες που μπορούν να εκφραστούν κατεξοχήν μέσα από λέξεις, όπως η ερώτηση.
