Abstract
The professional development of teacher-counselors is considered a strategic objective in both international and national levels, since teacher-counselors are the key factor for the improvement of education and its responsiveness to developments and challenges of the ‘Knowledge Society’, in the ‘Information Age a Networked Society’ (The rise of the Networked Society - Castells, 1996). The article focuses on
the comparative study of the literature review with the four years study conducted in the Hellenic Open University. Furthermore, it explores the best practices of the international literature, the description, interpretation and in-depth understanding of
the case studies aiming to the professional development of teacher-counselors in Open and Distance Higher Education.
