Pedagogical material in school distance education. Case study: The Distance Educational Centre of Victoria in Australia

Abstract
Τhis article presents the theoretical framework that is related to the specifications of the multifunctional educational material for distance school education and also the presentation and analysis of the pedagogical material used in Distance Education School of Victoria in Australia. Concretely, a chapter was indicatively studied from the educational material that is used in teaching by the above mentioned school, from the 1st to the 6th level - class of the elementary school. There were also recorded the types of the material and the categories of the activities, they were connected with the learning process and were commented with concrete criteria. The analysis results showed that the interaction of the student with the educational material is accomplished largely by developing activities of graded difficulty. It was also found
that the main characteristics of the material are the development of the
interdisciplinary approach at all levels, the emphasis on autonomy and self-acting of the student, the cultivation of the written, oral, visual, audiovisual and psychomotor expression and that students have the monitoring of their own progress and development. Consequently, this educational material is a very good practice and its study is considered as a very good example of teaching material.
