Der Maler Theodosios Galinos: Neues zu seiner künstlerischen Aktivität auf Kreta im 14. Jahrhundert (The painter Theodosios Galinos: News about his artistic activity on Crete in the 14th century)
Abstract
The painter Theodosios Galinos became known through the dedicatory inscription of the Koimesis church in Archontiko in Pediada, Crete (1352). However, his name is also mentioned in the dedicatory inscription of the Panagia in Sampas, which is presented here for the first time. Moreover, based on art historical and other grounds we propose the attribution of the wall paintings of Saint John the Forerunner at Kritsa (1360) to the same painter. This new evidence can serve as a basis for a future systematic research and evaluation of the work of this interesting painter.
