Die Kuppel und die Frage der “Hierarchisierung” (The dome and the question of “hierarchization”)
Abstract
Regarding the hierarchy and interpretation of the decoration in the cross-in-square type, the commentators on the Byzantine liturgy at least show that it should be perceived from west to east, i.e. in the direction of the bema. At the same time, it becomes obvious that this hierarchization is not as important for the faithful as the theosis, i.e. the direct contact between God and men through the Eucharist.
