Abstract

Presented are the wall-paintings in a cave church dedicated to the Archangels, which is located on the south shore of the Great Prespa lake. The few surviving frescoes (Virgin Vlachernitissa, Melismos, St Stephen, St Symeon the Stylite), which had been previously dated to the twelfth or thirteenth century, are now dated to the second half of the fifteenth century. They are most probably the work of a painter who had been apprenticed in a workshop in the wider region of Ochrid.
