Abstract
The article focuses on child's vulnerability to child poverty and describes the changing importance of early childhood education, training and care in the socio-political context of the Western world as an educational space that offers opportunities for poverty prevention. It refers to specific actions based on lessons from international research to support children and families affected by poverty and the important role of professionals in the wider field of early childhood education and care, in addressing the phenomenon.
