Περίληψη
Στο παρόν άρθρο παρουσιάζεται μια ανασκόπηση της βιβλιογραφίας για την επιρροή των σεισμών και άλλων αγχογενών εμπειριών στον ψυχικό κόσμο των παιδιών. Η ανασκόπηση κλινικών δεδομένων τα οποία συγκεντρώθηκαν μετά από φυσικές καταστροφές υπογραμμίζει τα συμπτώματα και την ψυχοπαθολογία που εμφανίζεται στα θύματα των σεισμών. Τα προβλήματα που επικρατούν είναι συναισθηματικά, όπως μετατραυματικό στρες, μελαγχολία, φόβος και άγχος, καθώς και διανοητικά, συμπεριφορικά και ψυχοσωματικά. Στη συνέχεια παρουσιάζεται ένα μοντέλο για την κατανόηση του μετά-τραυματικού στρες. Το άρθρο κλείνει με την παρουσίαση ενός προγράμματος ψυχοθεραπείας που εφαρμόστηκε επιτυχώς σε σεισμόπληκτα παιδιά και γενικών θεραπευτικών οδηγιών για την ψυχολογική αντιμετώπιση του μετα-τραυματικού στρες στα παιδιά.
