The Modern Role of Local Government
Abstract
One day, Teddy Kollek, a successful Mayor of Jerusalem in the 80s and 90s, surrounded by religious leaders, Jews, Muslims and Christians fighting over access to the Holy Land, and fed up with their perpetual quarrel, told them: Gentlemen, quit the sermons and I will fix the drains for you! This is what is called local government. Giving real solutions to real problems. Overcoming what divides us and joining forces to make people's lives better. Knowing from the inside the issues that arise, because we live and move in the same space.
