Dissertation: Analysis of Greek and European shipping policy in the light of economic globalization.

Afroditi Chrysikou
Abstract

Shipping is undoubtedly one of the most dynamic and extrovert sectors of the economy. At global level, shipping and maritime transport play a particularly important role and are inextricably linked to the globalised market, as trade is conducted within the framework of the rules that globalisation itself shapes, within the framework of free and single market and undistorted competition. Moreover, maritime transport is the most efficient, advantageous and safe way to transport large quantities of raw materials, goods and products, contributes significantly to the economic and social well-being of a country and is an integral part of the production process and trade.
