Submission Preparation Checklist


As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is 1.15 spaced; uses a Arial 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The journal SOCIAL WORK – Review of Social Sciences, as a scientific publication, aims to contribute to the expansion, awareness and critical analysis of contemporary trends and issues in the field of Social Work, as well as in other sciences, by means of encouraging interdisciplinarity.

 

TYPES OF PUBLICATIONS

The Editorial Committee of the journal accepts for submission and evaluation of the following types of publications:

  • Research articles (up to 4,500 words) and review articles (up to 6,000 words). The word limit does not pertain to the References and the Summary part of the articles.
  • Comments, such as opinions on published articles (up to 1,500 words).
  • Presentations of books and other published scientific material (up to 1,500 words).

Presentations of scientific and educational activities, such as educational programs, conferences, workshops, symposia and more (up to 500 words).

 

PUBLICATION LANGUAGE: Greek and English

 

SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES

Article submissions must be made exclusively in electronic format, following the instructions provided on the journal's website. Authors are required to submit their manuscripts using the designated template available on the website. Authors are kindly requested not to modify the prescribed formatting (e.g., font size, line spacing), as submissions that do not adhere to the formatting guidelines will not be accepted.

Manuscripts that do not conform to the required format or violate editorial or scientific ethics guidelines will not proceed to the peer review stage.

Each submission must designate one author as the corresponding author. All communication between the journal and the author team will be conducted exclusively through the corresponding author.

All listed authors must have made a significant contribution to the article. When registering as an author with the journal, each author must include their ORCID ID. Authors without an ORCID ID must obtain one by registering at https://orcid.org/.

Additionally, authors must specify up to two subject areas relevant to their manuscript (e.g., History of Social Work), as outlined in the "About the Journal" section.

 

Checklist to ensure blind evaluation

The journal SOCIAL WORK uses a "double-blind evaluation" model to ensure the anonymity of both the authors and reviewers.

When submitting a paper, authors must ensure that all personal information is removed from the manuscript, including from the first and last pages and the header. Additionally, any details that could reveal the author’s identity (e.g., references to their affiliated institution) must be omitted.

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS TO THE AUTHORS

General guidelines:

  • The article may be written in Greek or English.
  • The text must be written in an MS Office text editor.
  • The bibliographic system used must be the APA Style 7.
  • Footnotes are accepted in the footer, with clear numerical indicators.

Specific guidelines:

 

Article title

The title cannot exceed 20 words. It should state as accurately as possible the content of the paper. The title is also submitted in English. The suggested formatting of the title can be found at the special template provided by the journal.

Summary

The article summary is presented without paragraphs (not in subsections). It should not exceed 250 words. The summary must not include bibliographic references. The summary should also be submitted in English. The suggested format of the summary can be found at the special template provided by the journal.

Key words

There must be up to 5 keywords representing the topic of the article. They should be submitted in Greek and English.

Images

They shall be submitted exclusively in digital form. At the top of the image must be found the numbering of the images e.g. Figure 1: ....and its title. If the image was taken from another source, the source information should be presented at the bottom of the image e.g. Source: ... The article will not be forwarded for review if the images are not properly digitally formatted for reproduction.

Tables-Charts-Graphs

The configuration of tables, charts and graphs will be based on the specifications set by the APA Publication Manual [American Psychological Association, Publication Manual, 7th edition, 2020]. They will be included with consistent numbering within the text.

The tables should be included in the main part of the paper (see also template). The originals must be sent and there must be a clear presentation of the variables. Their titles should be clear. If the data have been obtained from another source, the relevant information should be provided.

The article will not be forwarded for review if the tables, charts, and charts are not properly digitally formatted for reproduction.

Acknowledgements – Funding 

Acknowledgements and/or references to funding are mentioned before the References as distinct sections.

References

The bibliographic references will be based on the specifications set by the APA Publications Manual [American Psychological Association, Publication Manual, 7th edition, 2020]. It is preferable to maintain an undivided list and to keep a mixed alphabetical order.
