Églises retrouvées de Başköy (Cappadoce)
Abstract
This article presents six churches located in the region of Basköy in Cappadocia which, in the old publication by Jerphanion, were either misplaced topographically or were very succinctly cited. The condition of their painted decoration is at a rather poor state of preservation, while the time frame of them varies between the 10th and the 13th century. These churches add some new information to the formulation of the iconographic programmes, to the identification and tracking of the painting workshops and in general to the dating of the frescoes in Cappadocia.
