Abstract

The study of the vita icon of St Procopios, which is preserved in the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, has shown for the first time that its cycle faithfully follows specific Lives and the arrangement of the scenes corresponds exactly to the narrative of the text, as it is also observed in the icon of St Catherine at Sinai. Associated with the locussanctus of the saint, the icon is attributed to a Crusader workshop in Acre and is dated to the penultimate decade of the thirteenth century.
