Abstract

Exhibited in the Rodia Icon Museum in Astypalaia is an icon of the Dormition of the Virgin, which originally belonged to the group of churches in the Karai neighbourhood. Iconographic and stylistic analysis of the icon, shows that it was painted by a Constantinopolitan artist active in Crete in the mid-fifteenth century.
