Abstract

The completion and a new transcription of the dedicatory inscription of a church in the countryside of Chios, the Virgin Agrelopousaina at Kalamoti, leads to the conclusion that the founders of the church were the priest Nikolaos Panteygenos and his wife Eirene Mentoni, and that the church was founded and wall-painted during the reign of Andronikos II Palaiologos and his consort Eirene (Yolanda of Montferrat), between the years 1295 and 1317.
