Das heiligtum des Heiligen Theodoros bei Holmoi (Isauria) wiedergefunden
Abstract
The church of the famous pilgrimage centre of St. Theodore near Holmoi (Taşucu), the harbour of Seleukeia (Silifke) in Cilicia–Isauria (Asia Minor–Turkey), was known only from a drawing of V. Langlois made in 1852/53. After that the building was thought to be totally destroyed, and even its exact position could not be found. By accident few remains of the church were recognized, east of the ruins of “Manastir” (ca. 5 km west of Holmoi), directly at the sea shore. One could possibly get more information after cleaning and excavating the site.
