Oeuvres de l’art monumental aux points de contact direct de l'architecture byzantine et d’ Europe occidentale
Abstract
The overview of the architectural influences in medieval Italy seen under the prism of cultural and political exchanges with Byzantium can be exemplified in cases of churches where domed solutions have been employed for the covering of the nave. Similar degree of influences can be acknowledged from the Byzantine architecture towards that of the Serbian kingdom. The creation of a special and intermingled artistic language inspired both by the Late Byzantine architecture of Constantinople and by the Italian late Roman/Gothic was the unique feature that characterized the Nemanjić dynasty and survived in the Morava school as well.
