An early christian stone jewelry mold found in excavations at Kardamaina, Kos
Abstract
A stone mould for jewelry came to light during the systematic excavations of a site at Kardamaina, Kos. The finding’s thorough analysis offers information on its quarrying and on the product that could be cast with it, i.e. a cross fourchée. The comparative material from other published jewelry products as well as the shape of the cross suggest a possible time frame for its dating between the second half of the 6th century and the beginning of the 7th century A.D.
