Abstract

The article presents certain observations on the wall paintings in the church of Hagios Ioannis the Theologian in Veroia. This fresco decoration has generally been dated to the period within the first three decades of the 13th century. However, its stylistic and iconographic analysis in connection with historical events that took place in Veroia in the second half of the 13th century suggests that these paintings should be dated sometime around 1270.
