Ελένη Ανδρέου (Eleni Andreou)
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify children in junior age who are presenting behavioural problems of an aggressive nature, through questionnaires given to the teachers, their peer group and the children themselves, with the aim of facilitating intervention at an early stage. A questionnaire was also given to the parents in order to obtain detailed information about the family situation. Out of 189 questionnaires sent to the families, 91 were returned. Discrepancies in the participants' perception of aggression were assessed and the relationship between family factors (size of the family, educational level, parents' ambitions, strictness, reactions to child's fights etc.) and aggressive behaviour was examined. Results are discussed in terms of their implications for intervention at family, school and community level.
