Morality and biotetechnology
Abstract
In this lecture, Baroness, Helen Mary Warnock, as a real expert, considers the contemporary reaches in the biotechnology field as well as the moral issues raised by these developments. More specifically, she talks about one particular aspect of the new research, namely, the Regenerative Therapy or Therapeutic Cloning, which induced old myths and fears to the public at large. Wamock goes in depth in order to explain to us not only what really means Therapeutic Cloning but also, to indicate the prospects of human relief from a series of degenerative diseases. On basis of a purely moral argument as well as on an objective historical ground, she aims at explaining the profound reasons of human fears and convincing us that human society is able first, to build up the proper moral regulations for the realization of biological research and second, that we, as humans, have a moral duty to trust human inventive and creative genius.
