Abstract

The general aim of this article is to explore the educational documentary 'Bridges of Knowledge,' which was created within the framework of the Master’s Program 'Educational Design of Online Learning' and specifically within the course 'Development of Digital Audiovisual Material,' taught by Mr. Sofos Alivizos. Influenced by the refugee crisis, we proceeded to create an educational documentary focusing on the integration of refugee children into the Greek educational system. The documentary is designed for students in the sixth grade of primary school, but it can also be used for other educational purposes, targeting a broader audience. The main goal, after watching the educational documentary, is to inform children about the challenges faced by refugee children when they arrive in Greece, to raise their awareness, and to educate them about what the Refugee Temporary Accommodation Facility and the ZEP class (Zone of Educational Priority) actually are, which many of their peers attend but often do not fully understand. Additionally, the aim is to inform children about how the Refugee Temporary Accommodation Facility and the ZEP class can support refugee children, primarily in the educational aspect.
