Abstract

The manuscripts produced at Mystras during the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries can be classed in two groups and this activity is associated with personalities from Constantinople: the bibliophile metropolitan Nikephoros Moschopoulos and the well-known calligrapher Manouil Tzykandylis. The first group includes works of mainly ecclesiastical content, written between 1289 and 1319. The second includes treatises by John VI Kantakouzenos and works by ancient Greek authors, which were penned by Tzykandylis in the years 1362-1372.
