«Ἄνθρωπος ἐν τιμῇ ὢν οὐ συνῆκε». Zu zwei Miniaturen des 48. Psalms
Abstract
«’Ἅνθρωπος ἐν τιμῆ ὤν οὐ συνῆκε’; Two miniatures on the 48th Psalm»
Αγγλική περίληψη: The illustration of two verses of the Psalm 48 in two different cases, the 21st verse in the Psalter of Theodore of the year 1066 and of the 13th verse in the Psalter of Kiev of the year 1397, with the same scene where a man beats a tree and the beans that fall are being eaten by the pigs presents special interest. According to other pictorial data the scene should be identified to that of the Prodigal son where it is cited that he worked as a swineherd. The patristic interpretation on the evangelic text as well as the exegetic comments on the Psalm 48 all refer to the loss of the human dignity and to the man’s equation to the animals. The same correlations should also be understood in the representation of the Prodigal son as a swineherd.
