Abstract

Presented is a fragment of a sandwich-glass vase in the Kanellopoulos Museum, with representation in gold leaf of a standing beardless martyr holding a palm branch. It is proposed that the youthful figure is identified as St Gereon, and that the vase was made in the fourth century in Cologne (Germany).
