Abstract

This article presents wood-carved works of the seventeenth and the eighteenth centuries in the Iviron monastery. It documents the development of woodcarving on Mount Athos and discusses the individual parameters (technique, style, artistic influences, provenance of craftsmen), which defined and shaped it as a whole over this two-hundred-years period.
