Abstract
The icon of the equestrian Saint Demetrius ‘in parade’ is preserved in the church of the same saint at Chora, Patmos. The closest stylistic affinities are to be found in Rhodes, such as the wall painting of saint Demetrius from the church of Saint Spyridon in the Medieval City, and the icon of the Virgin Galaktotrofousa (Lactans), exhibited in the Grand Master’s Palace at Rhodes. The aforementioned resemblances lead us to date the icon of Patmos to the first decades of the fifteenth century and to attribute it to a Rhodian workshop.
