Byzantine aroma in the work by Francesco Sansovino
Abstract
Francesco Sansovino’s book Venetia città nobilissima et singolare, printed in 1581, is considered a tourist guidebook by today’s standards. The present study collects and examines the information in this guidebook that refers to the Byzantine world, particularly the relations between Byzantium and Venice.
