Abstract

The wall paintings of the church of the Annunciation, a signed and dated (1331/2) work of Ioannis Pagomenos, reflect the funerary character of the church and include a significant number of western or western-styled iconographie elements, which are shaped in the Holy Land and in Cyprus, from where they are "imported" into the Latin-ruled regions, Crete, Kythera, Euboia and southern mainland Greece.
