Primary school teacher's views on school bullying and the role of the headteacher in his management
Abstract
School bullying is a global social phenomenon, which is increasing ... in recent years. The research presented in this article analyzes the views of educators and headteachers on the role that school unit headteachers should play and what are considered to be the appropriate actions to address. The quantitative approach was followed to study this subject.The sample consisted of 108 teachers and 42 primary school headteachers who worked in schools in the Municipality of Patras. The data collection tool was the anonymous questionnaire, while the following criteria were used during the statistical processing: Mann Whitney, Kruskal - Wallis, X2 and Spearman's rho. The analysis of the data revealed the importance of the role of the headteachers in addressing school bullying incidents. In addition, the need for appropriate education and continuous training of teachers on the specific social phenomenon emerged. Finally, there were significant differences in the findings according to the working status of the respondents, the specialty and the place in education.
