Abstract
Play is children’s basic activity from the first months of their lives. The types of play are modified in relation to the age of a child. Moreover, social play is influenced by the interaction among children in kindergarten. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between the social status of children and their involvement in play activities in the classroom and at the school yard. The results showed that in both environments, rejected children are mainly observers and sometimes they are involved in parallel play, while the popular children are involved in social play.
