The learning of counter-intuitive explanations from the Framework Theory of conceptual change perspective

Abstract
The Special Issue presents five papers that extend the Framework Theory of conceptual change to new areas that have not been studied so far. The papers also demonstrate the power of the theory to predict and explain some of the difficulties students have in understanding certain counter-intuitive concepts and explanations in science and mathematics and to lead to new approaches in instruction. Although all papers are guided by the same theoretical framework, they each make their own unique contribution.
