Abstract

The article presents two portable icons from the Vatopedi monastery on Mount Athos. Both of the icons are of medium size. The first depicts the typical three figured Deesis, while the second one saint John the Theologian with the personification of the Holy Wisdom at his back. The study of their iconography and style ascribes the first to the cycle of works that are related to the workshop of Angelos and thus is datable in the first half of the 15th century, while the second can be attributed to the workshop of Andreas Ritzos and to be dated in the second half of the 15th century.
