Abstract

In this paper we investigated the perceptions of primary school teachers about the values that shapes the learning and teaching of mathematics. Forty eight teachers who taught in four schools with different socio-economic and cultural characteristics participated in this research. The data collection was based on the completion of a questionnaire. The results showed that the discussion of values with teachers can provide an fruitful framework for refl ection about desired changes in mathematics education.
