A byzantine icon of the Virgin as Intercessor in the church of the Panagia Katapoliani, Paros
Abstract
Presented is the icon, possibly despotic, of the Virgin orans (ca 1200), from the Katapoliani church in Paros. Examined is the iconographic type, which is identified in Constantinople, as well as the style, which links it with workshops of Cyprus and the eastern Mediterranean.
