Dress in the early christian art of Thessaloniki
Abstract
This article refers to the male and female attire as it appears in the artistic production of Thessaloniki from the third to the nineth century (tomb painting, mosaics in the Rotunda, St Demetrios, and Hagia Sophia and the historical wall-paintingin St Demetrios). It is ascertained that costume in Byzantium retained until the ninth century elements of the Roman tradition with slight differentiations.
