Abstract

In the Andromonastiro in Messenia there are eight parts of a sculptural decoration in off-white marble: two parts of templon epistyles with foliate decoration built into the iconostasis of the church, one bevelled cornice and one dosseret of a mullion built into the base of the two-lobe window, two parts of an iconostasis epistyle, one part of a small pillar of a templon-screen and one dosseret of a mullion built into the iconostasis of the parekklesion. The sculptures are dated to the early twelfth century and display similarities to the templon-screen in the Samarina church.
