Abstract
Georgios Lampakis visited the region of Phthiotis, Central Greece, at least eight times between the years 1896 and 1910, recording data on the Byzantine and post-Byzantine monuments existing there. His activity in this specific area is valuable for the understanding of his motives, his interests and the method of his research. The article focuses on these aspects through Lampakis’ short reports in the Deltion of the Christian Archaeological Society and his unpublished notes and correspondence.
