Mentions of buildres, master craftsmen and masons in the middle and Late Byzantine periods
Abstract
As a matter of principle creatorsinByzantium avoided signing theirworks. Consequently, the number of known architects, master craftsmen, masons and builders is very limited. Presented are 58 names of persons directly involved in master-building, known from textual sources.
