Abstract

The church of St Nicholas ‘en Vouniani’, near the village of Exarchos in Lokris, is of the simple four-columned cross-in-square mainland type with high dome and an exonarthex which is a later addition. The conch is of semi-hexagonal plan. The naos is separated from the bema by a marble templon-screen, now plastered. Most of its features advocate a dating around the late twelfth-early thirteenth century. The narthex is probably not much later.
