Abstract

This research studies possible differentiations in the learning experience of prospective teachers in the context of their teaching practice and explores factors that may influence the differentiation of this experience.  Four case studies of student teachers are examined through one year in relation to their beliefs and practices before, during and after their teaching practice.  Semi-structured interviews before and after teaching practice, observations and video-taping of practice were selected as data collection methods.  Results showed differentiated beliefs and practices due to personal factors, differences in their personal theories, their adequacy regarding necessary knowledge and competence and their ability to reflect on practice.
