Abstract

This study examines the building of the magkipeion (the place where bread was made) of Megisti Lavra on Mt. Athos, one of only a very few preserved old monastic magkipeia. Following an examination of its building phases and various features, a dating for the building to the 16th century is proposed, as well as the graphic reconstruction of its original form.
