Cypriot icons on Amorgos
Abstract
A poorly preserved icon of St. George on horseback in the Monastery of the Panagia Chozoviotissa on Amorgos has a relief background, which is characteristic of Cypriot icons. The similarities of the icon of Christ in the same monastery to icons on Cyprus lead to the attribution of this icon to a Cypriot workshop from the end of the 14th or the first half of the 15th century.
